Sophia Gross with TN Career Center was our speaker at Support Group this month.

She shared information about their resources to assist you. Some support they offer:

Rehabilitative Services for eligible persons with disabilities
Veterans Program providing labor exchange and specialized services to military veterans
Youth Program for ages 16 - 21 which includes educational "field trips" out of state
Vocational Rehab to support those struggling with decisions regarding working versus receiving disability benefits
Job readiness information
Older Workers Job Club for ages 50 and up

DISABILITY RIGHTS TREATY - ACTION ON NOVEMBER 5

The Epilepsy Foundation is a strong supporter of this treaty that will protect the rights and dignity of persons with disabilities as they live, work, travel, study, retire or serve abroad. Tony Coelho, former President and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation, was an honored guest at the hearing and was thanked by Committee Chair John Kerry (MA) for his long-time commitment to the ADA and full rights and inclusion for all people with disabilities.

It is crucial that the United States Ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) is passed before the end of the year. Please take action now, and call your Senator TODAY to support the CRPD!

NOW I KNOW CAMPAIGN - EPILEPSY AWARENESS MONTH

To kick off Epilepsy Awareness Month, we’re inviting you, your friends, and family to answer the question “When it comes to epilepsy, what do you know now that you wish you knew sooner?” as part of the Epilepsy Foundation’s “Now I Know” video campaign.

Click here to submit a short video that shares your experiences with epilepsy and talks about one resource that helped you live better with epilepsy. Not only will your video help others living with epilepsy, but you could also have a chance to win an iPad, among other prizes. Videos may also be featured online or at local Epilepsy Foundation events.

Submit your video before midnight, Eastern on December 31, 2012 and then encourage your friends and families to vote.

Epilepsy Foundation of America will be featuring videos from SE Tennessee and NW Georgia on our Facebook page, so don’t forget to select Epilepsy Foundation Southeast Tennessee when you upload your video!
